The right solutions become obvious when we ask the right questions
The Passion to be a Healer
Have you been dreaming of the quality of life that Veterinary Medicine would provide for you?
You have contemplated  enriching experiences from helping animals.

The Freedom to use your skills
Are you worried that you will be forced to give up your autonomy as a veterinarian and trade your dreams for a salary?
Faceless corporate franchisors use algorithms and high tech equipment to streamline the minimum expected productivity that justifies your salary.

A Life with Peace of Mind
Have you considered that your job security and financial success will be at stake?
You have incurred high costs to get your degree and you expect to be making a comfortable living for you and your family. Multinational employers must serve their shareholders and will soon replace you with emerging robotics and artificial intelligence?

Are there Solutions?
Leave room for establishing relationships, planting roots in a community by fostering trust and understanding.

Become your own Boss
As an independent practice owner, you’ll exercise skills and knowledge that you worked so hard to acquire over a period of may years.

Use the latest Tools
Pumpkin Hill Veterinary Clinic has in-house the same tools as the big
corporates:
- Digital xray,
- Dental digital xray,
- Ultrasound,
- Abaxis blood chemistry and hematology,
- Cold laser ,
- Sevoflorane anesthesia
and much more while we are constantly adding new things to keep up with the latest in animal care.

Warm country feeling in a setting that animals love to visit
We practice Veterinary Medicine in a warm, comforting facility that people and animals enjoy coming to. We are located in the country without any constricting adjacent properties. Quite often we are greeted in the morning by squirrels, song birds, and deer in the yard.

Close to Urban Centers and Major University Centers
Although we work in this idyllic, rural setting, we are within easy distance of the two major urban centers Rochester and Buffalo. Even closer by are the two smaller university towns of Brockport and Batavia.

Consider beautiful Western New York.
In the midst of some of the greatest farm land in America you will find yourself in warm , inviting, small communities of friendly, helpful, educated people. Within minutes you can be in a large city for cultural events, on a great lake (Ontario) for world class sport fishing, at one of the wonders of the world (Niagara Falls), or in charming Finger Lakes wine country.

The Choice is yours
Decide how you want to live. Don’t fall for the idea that you must settle for either a career or a meaningful life full of rich experiences.
Buildings, equipment, algorithms, these are all tools that can help us accomplish a task. Don’t lose sight of the fact that these tools are pretty much interchangeable and portable. What is more important than the tools is where and how you choose to implement them.
As an employee, salaries and compensation can be negotiated but wouldn’t it be better to be the boss?

Our Invitation
Live a rewarding life at Pumpkin Hill Veterinary Clinic.
We are looking for a special person who wants to live here, thrive here, have a family and plant roots.
A person who would rather work hard for their community and their own self rather than comply with rules mandated by a corporate entity with greedy shareholders

We hire in the summer and fall for seniors graduating the following spring.  We are looking for new graduates interested in making a difference in the veterinary community and nurturing the human animal bond. As a new graduate we want you to know that we’ve been there!
We remember the unique needs a new graduate has, and we embrace that. We are excited to be part of your development and career. We want to provide you the mentorship and coaching to set you up in your career to be as strong as you can be!
What makes us unique?
•Salary is not based on straight production. From day one you are paid for being a veterinarian and leader at the hospital.
•We are not “new” or a big corporate business, dictating medical practice. We have been at this for years, with steady and organic growth.
•We provide all expenses paid, interactive interviews.
•Can’t work full-time? We understand personal needs, and always have positions for good veterinarians, regardless of how many days they can work.
•More contact with veterinarians just like you, both professionally and socially.
•Immediate access, via e-mail and phone, to over 100 doctors who can provide additional input, for your questions about medical records, lab work and x-rays. We call it our “mini VIN”!
•Mentoring and training in advanced areas such as, dentistry, surgery, medical procedures and ultrasound, throughout our practices.
•We host numerous CE opportunities year-round.
•Our traveling surgeon allows our doctors to observe, participate, and learn about more advanced surgery
•A focus on current quality medicine with up to date equipment.
•Collaborative approach to patient and client care…..no requirement to come in on your days off. Your colleagues cover continued treatments and client communication.
•This group participates in organized veterinary medicine. Our doctors have current and past positions on the state association (AzVMA) Board of Directors. We have past AzVMA Presidents, Veterinarians of the Year and other awards.
•We have a diverse group of veterinarians. Currently we have graduates from 23 veterinary schools.
• We also mentor in the business aspect of the practice, as collectively, the team members, associates and partners want the business to succeed.
• Partnership opportunities and access to the tools to make partnership a reality.
• We now have over 40 partners.

What can we offer?
Coming fresh out of school, many new graduates have areas of focus they look for:
Training (Will I just be thrown out there on my own!?)
Benefits and Pay (Can I afford these student loan payments now!?)
Work/life Balance (I just graduated, am I going to get to have a life now!?)

Training—We won’t send you out and forget you!
Our on-boarding program is structured, specific, and designed to make sure you are feeling comfortable and you succeed as a new veterinarian. The on-boarding can be summarized in three overlapping parts.
First—A period of time where you meet the staff to build relationships, learn the flow of practice and software programs. Second—A period of time where you are assigned a mentor to shadow and collaborate on cases. Third—The time when you start seeing cases individually, most times, from 30 to 60 days, depending on your progress.

You will also receive the following:
• Immediate access, via e-mail and phone, to over 100 doctors who can offer advice on medical cases, lab work, x-rays, etc.
• Access to training on advanced medicine, procedures and surgeries, throughout our practices.
• Progress reviews to help you succeed.
• Leadership In Training program designed to enhance your overall skill sets.
• Numerous CE opportunities year-round in our training suite and in hospitals.

Benefits and Pay—Excellent compensation, not based solely on production.
As a new graduate we know that pay and benefits can be a challenge, with most having a mountain of school debt, that is now starting to be payable. When doctors are paid on individual production, it creates a competitive environment which stifles a thriving, healthy culture and creates tension among peers. In our environment you do not compete for cases with other doctors.

2020 New Graduate Benefits and Pay
Fulltime is 9 days in a two-week period. Salary is $93,000/yr. Alternatively, a schedule of 8 days in a two-week period can be available.

All new 2020 graduates receive:
• Relocation allowance of $4,000
• School loan repayment subsidy of $2,500
• An additional initial sign on bonus which is determined by previous work experience, individual accomplishments and work schedules

Additional Benefits for all above new graduates:
• Starting paid vacation of two weeks annually
• 3 paid personal days annually
• 7 paid holidays annually
• $1,000 continuing education allowance annually
• Paid annual dues to AVMA and AzVMA
• Paid annual VIN membership
• Paid DEA license fee
• Paid Arizona State license fee
• Paid Arizona State exam fee
• Employer matching 401(k) plan
• Generous employer subsidy for medical, vision and dental insurance
• Employer paid long-term disability insurance
• Employer paid professional liability insurance
• Employer paid $10,000 life insurance policy, with your option for additional benefits
• Very generous discount plan for personal pet medical care
• Ability to shadow our traveling surgeon to discuss surgeries and skills to improve your initial surgical ability
• Paid tuition to a dental training course
• Partnership opportunities, and the resources to make it happen!
• Option (not required) for doctors to work additional days for extra income and more experience

Work/Life Balance--All veterinarians work hard and need time for a break. As a new graduate, we understand that you want to enjoy your life as a veterinarian. You no longer have to live your life inside books, lectures and rotating clinics. Now you want to experience new things! We get that and have found several ways to help provide this for our veterinarians.
• Can’t work full-time? Again, we understand and are flexible. We always have room for great veterinarians.
• Quick trip to San Diego or other places? With our flexible schedules, it makes it easier to get away.
• Plus, remember, we take a collaborative approach to patient and client care, no requirement to come in on your days off.
• Our practices are busy, but we want to provide means for our doctors to “recharge their batteries”.
• You will get to know many veterinarians and these same veterinarians have similar interests. Thus, the opportunities such as hiking, exercise, sports, horseback riding. You will meet veterinarians with similar family interests.
• Not from Phoenix or Arizona? We will help you with finding locations to live, insurance needs, medical needs, schools, banking and other services. In other words, you are joining a family which will help you “settle in”.
