City, State, Zip:
Houston, TX 77094
Phone:
281-600-8509
email:
employment@cap4pets.org
Description/Details:
Are you looking for a position that directly saves animals’ lives? Does helping more animals in our community receive life-saving vaccines appeal to your values? Do you love motivating a team ready to help homeless pets? Are you interested in working with colleagues who share your same passion in saving animals, helping fight the stray overpopulation problem in Houston, and having fun while doing so? If so, the Staff Veterinary position at Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) might be the perfect role for you!
As a Staff Veterinarian you will operate on shelter animals, mostly spay/neuter, perform vet evaluations, prescribe medication for the animals in our care or who have been recently adopted, and work with clients on basic veterinary wellness and preventatives in our clinic. CAP will rely on your skills and experience in developing protocols and humanely treating animals in our care. CAP is a nonprofit animal shelter going 50 years strong in Houston; you will be completing purpose-driven work, which is very fulfilling! The clinic at CAP handles all of the spay/neuter surgeries for shelter animals, additional surgeries for the health of the shelter animals as needed, feral cat surgeries (currently once per month), and low-cost wellness vaccination services to the general public. In the future, the position may encompass public surgeries.
If making a difference in the lives of shelter animals is something you are passionate about, AND if you like building a team and working with excellent management, it just might be the most fulfilling job you’ve ever had.
Schedule and Activities:
  • A typical schedule for you at CAP would be 5 days a week at 8 hours per day, with at least one weekend day (our busiest times for wellness). The Staff Veterinarian position allows for flexibility so please let us know your desired schedule and we can possibly work with you!
  • A typical day in surgery for you looks like: high-volume, high-quality surgeries - mostly spay/neuters of cats, dogs, and bunnies. Other surgeries may include: dentals, enucleations, amputations, and dew claw removals, but does not include highly specialized surgeries. The animals you are handling will most often be shelter animals who are getting ready to be adopted or have already been adopted. CAP has once-per-month feral cat days with a lively team, more surgical techs, plenty of volunteers and many cats ready to live the kitten-free life. The average number of surgeries per day falls between 20 and 40 pets, with the majority being spay/neuter surgeries.
  • Every day includes vet evaluations in the shelter after surgery or wellness. This involves all animals needing assessment, follow up, diagnosis and recommendations for treatment within the shelter protocol. Protocol is regularly reviewed and updated between the Veterinarians and shelter management. On occasion you may be called on your off hours for clarification on treatment, advice on new situations, etc. You will get to know our animals and celebrate with us when they are adopted.
  • A typical day in the wellness clinic for you looks like: establishment of the veterinary-client-patient relationship, answering client questions, directing vaccinations with the staff, educating pet parents on the importance of vaccinations, spay/neuter, and other pet care techniques. Our wellness facility is for preventative care, including vaccinations, and is not a full-service vet (no boarding, major testing, or sick/injured animals). Our wellness clinic is low-cost and financially supports shelter pet care, including housing and surgeries.
  • If you are ready to work hard, help build our amazing team, provide exceptional customer service, and handle a variety of animals from cats and dogs, to rabbits and other small mammals, this will be a great position for you! At CAP we work as a team and with great compassion for all animals and we expect the same from our new hires.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited school of Veterinary Medicine.

Description/Details:   OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS: If you are looking for a great opportunity to thrive as a veterinarian (partners or couples) personally, professionally and financially, then keep on reading.  If you are simply looking for a temporary, veterinary associate position, then read no further. Bertrand Veterinary Clinic, PC owns and operates two distinct practices in south-central Nebraska.  Bertrand Veterinary Clinic, located in Bertrand, Nebraska is a busy mixed animal practice with primary focus of providing services for beef cow herds and small feedlots.  Our Bertrand practice serves commercial and seed stock herds in a seven county area.  A challenging mix of companion animal medicine/surgery is also provided to our small community. Our second location, North Park Animal Hospital in neighboring Holdrege, Nebraska is a companion animal only hospital that serves the pet owners of Holdrege and surrounding communities.  North Park Animal Hospital is poised for growth with a loyal clientele that is a pleasure to serve.  Both facilities are current, pristine, well-staffed, and equipped to provide great service to veterinary clients.I am looking to provide an opportunity for a progressive, business minded couple or budding partners to own and operate practice(s) in an area of Nebraska that is unmatched in providing rural community atmosphere with great schools, vibrant businesses, conservative churches, plentiful recreation opportunities, and a safe, wholesome place to raise a family. As for the location:  Bertrand, Nebraska has an excellent pre-school through grade 12 education, a progressive attitude, access to excellent medical care, even a golf course, an art studio and a steak house.  The school alone is worth making Bertrand your home.  The Bertrand students are highly competitive in academics, extra-curricular activities ranging from athletics to agriculture education and FFA, to speech and drama.  Our Bertrand location includes an additional 3-4 acres of undeveloped space that could provide a perfect place to expand or build a home. Internet services in our community is good.  Ranchers regularly hold on-line, televised auctions.  It's the best of a well-connected rural economy. You'll only be 15 minutes from the county seat (Holdrege) which hosts a diversified agricultural-industrial economic base and an excellent hospital and medical community.  Just 50 minutes away, you'll find Kearney, Nebraska-home to University of Nebraska-Kearney and Central Community College, two regional medical centers, and a regional airport with connections to the world through Denver or Chicago. My goal is to provide a professionally and financially rewarding opportunity for the right individual(s) to own a practice(s) with a solid foundation and room for growth.  I would be available for a couple of years to aid in the transition and workload.  If you prefer to avoid the corporate world of veterinary medicine and live and raise your family in an ethically and morally wholesome environment, then contact me by phone at 308-991-5044 or by email at larrymarshalldvm@hotmail.com.

913-361-3800ER Mentorships Program
National Veterinary Associates - ER Mentorship Program
National Veterinary Associates (NVA) is interested in providing one-on-one mentorship to new veterinary graduates with a passion for Emergency Medicine, who want to gain valuable experience while being paid to do the work they love. What is NVA's ER Mentorship Program?
NVA's ER Mentorship program is an immersive 3-6 month program to prepare new DVMS, or those that have been in General Practice previously, for Emergency Medicine.  During this time, you will receive one-on-one mentorship from an experienced ER DVM, a personalized and structured learning plan, as well as daily support tailored to your needs and current skill-set. Who is the program for?
Recent CVM graduates from an AVMA-recognized institution, or a veterinarian who has ben practicing within General Practice interested in transitioning to Emergency Medicine. How does it work?
As an ER Mentee, you'll join one of our Speciality+ER hospitals nationwise for your 3-6 month program.  The location and program you apply to are your choice-we don't make you move around for short-term training and your mentors will be the same people who you'll later call colleagues.  At the successful completion of your mentorship program, you will remain at the same hospital as a Full-time ER Clinician for at least one year.  We're not interested in locking you into a multi-year contract as payment for mentorship--though if you love us, we'd love to have you stay!  In addition to mentoring and hands-on experience, you'll receive compensation and benefits reflective of a full-time employee, including 401(k), PTO, Health and more. Why choose NVA?
NVA has been an industry leader for over 30 years.  Haven't heard of us?  That's because we don't rebrand our hospitals--we cherish the heart and individuality of our practices and want them to thrive.  Our model is business support, so that's what we do.  Our partner hospitals have the autonomy to make the best decisions for their practice and team and we love having a nationwide network of other veterinary professionals to build ideas and encourage growth.
To set up a visit and spend some time in our hospitals, contact Kelley Pelinin.

Description/Details:   Top 5 reasons you should have our 2 privately owned clinics in the Lake Jackson TX area as your top choice to come practice at this next year...
#1) Broad species base - yes our traditional feline and canine companions…but an ever growing avian and exotics species caseload, and mobile large animal services. Our doctors can tailor their species focus based on their interests.
#2) Doctors enjoy a set day off weekly, every other weekend off and regular three day weekends to simply be humans. Go to the beach, head to a concert or plan a weekend staycation. Give yourself time to refresh, live your life and have fun!
#3) Mentorship - we have successfully mentored all of our associates as new graduate doctors. We will be there for your first, seconds and "What the heck do I do now's?!" Our doctor's success is our top priority. We are a team and if one member falls, we all fall. This is not an option - working to support one another is part of our culture. We have invested in advanced training programs in soft tissue surgery, a&e, advanced dentistry and more. Our associates have access to these programs on-demand 24/7.
#4) A mindset of positivity and never giving up. We don't just euthanize the cases that could be treated or saved with some time and extra funds. We find ways to help folks out to the best of our ability, or bring the pet under the resources of our partner rescues to give that animal the best shot possible.
#5) 120K+ compensation package, free of production pressures and with a focus on collaborative, best medicine.
We are 5 minutes to the coast with plenty of outdoor activities including watersports, fishing and hiking all within reach.
We are a medium sized town with a low cost of living, fabulous patios and local eateries. A safe, friendly community to call home and start a family if desired.
We have a busy externship program for vet students and provide housing, most meals and usually contribute to travel expenses. Lots of hands on teaching and experience is guaranteed.
We look forward to to hearing from you!
