The Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine is a cooperative agreement between the states of Nebraska and Iowa. Nebraska residents apply using VMCAS. Students will be selected by the Nebraska Admissions Committee and will attend two years of Professional Veterinary School before transferring to Iowa. The participating campuses are Lincoln, NE and Ames, IA. Students who complete the four year program will receive a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Only verified Nebraska residents are eligible for admission in the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine.
Minimum requirements for admission to the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine are:
- Nebraska residency (University of Nebraska-Lincoln residency classification for tuition purposes policy)
- Review Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine Essential Functions and Technical Standards Policy
- Completion of all required prerequisite coursework by the end of the spring term prior to matriculation
- Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale
- Submission of an application to the PPVM through the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS) by the application deadline
- Payment of the UNL PPVM Application fee
